Week 4 Post 1

The websites I chose are gatesnfences.com and jamison.com. The first potential problem I see for visitors on gatesnfences.com are that it is way too busy once you visit the page. There is wording everywhere that makes it difficult to decide where to start. The second problem is that it is very unorganized. They have links to railings, garden gates, and fences scattered along at the website. Lastly, I think the problem is it's just overall overwhelming. When clicking on one of the options on the left sidebar, you are directed to another page that explains everything about the products. Although it's very helpful, it is a lot for the eye to be introduced to. Most people once they see a page like that decide to leave the page.

The first problem I see on jamison.com is that upon arrival, it appears like am outdated website. It's not eye catching and uses many colors that makes it all over the place. The second problem is it's busy which makes it hard to decide where to even start. Lastly, the third problem is when you click one of the rainbow boxes, such as Feng Shui in orange, it redirects you to a new website which is identical to the original website. It is all very confusing.

Both websites need to be cleaned up with less colors, photos, and wording. If they limited the amount of different icons that can be clicked on, I think the websites wouldn't feel so overwhelming. I think both websites need to be more modern in terms of sticking to a neutral color scheme so that when visitors access the website, it gives more of a calm, reassuring feeling as they search for what they want.

Penny Juice highlighted their main topics and key points. This allows for the visitor to see what is most important to them and if they are interested, they can click on that section to view more. Their color use was balanced where they used a variation of colors but not in a bright manner. The Center for the Arts of Escondido's webpage is very well put together. When visiting it, they prompt you right away to choose what you are looking for. This is smart to provide those options first since often people who visit a site immediately want to find what they are searching for. The text size and color usage are easy for the eye to read and don't strain the eyes for being too bright nor all over the place. The designs for both these websites makes me want to spend hours reviewing the websites and seeing what they have to offer. Websites that aren't put together well, I immediately exit them to find one that doesn't overwhelm me.
